Google is making it easier for users to access its Gemini AI system in the Chrome browser. So that the users can interact with the AI chatbot directly from the Chrome Omnibox by using the ‘@’ prompt. This will eliminate the need to visit the Gemini website. This update also allows users to ask questions, generate images, and perform various tasks seamlessly within the Omnibox. The introduction is currently at the Canary level of Google Chrome, the cutting-edge experimental version. So Enthusiasts can try out the feature by turning it on manually through a simple extension process.
To enable this functionality:
- Open Google Chrome.
- Navigate to chrome://flags in the Chrome Omnibox.
- Locate the Expansion pack for the Site Search starter pack.
- Select Enable.
- Restart the browser.
- Visit chrome://settings/searchEngines in the address bar.
- Take note of the Chat with Gemini shortcut under Site Search.
- Now, In a new tab, type the @ symbol to reveal the Gemini shortcut and other Omnibox shortcuts. It may include search tabs, history, and bookmarks.
- Select the Gemini shortcut.
- Now Type your query and hit Enter to visit the Gemini website.
