OpenAI Introduces New Models and Wallet-Friendly API Rates!

OpenAI has recently introduced a range of new embedding models and API updates, aiming to enhance the capabilities and accessibility of its AI models.

The company introduced new embedding models, application programming interface usage management tools, and price reducing plans for one of its models, according to a Thursday (Jan. 25) company blog post.

The new models and updates include

New Embedding Models: OpenAI has launched two new embedding models, one is text-embedding-3-small and the other is text-embedding-3-large. These models are designed to convert text into a numerical form. Which embeds more efficient AI systems for various machine-learning tasks. The text-embedding-3-small model offers improved performance over its predecessor, text-embedding-ada-002, and comes with a significantly reduced price. Which Makes it more accessible for developers. On the other hand, the text-embedding-3-large model can create embeddings with up to 3072 dimensions, further enhancing performance compared to the previous model. These embeddings, which represent concepts within content, basically have undergone enhancements to improve performance and efficiency.

Revolutionary Price Drops: OpenAI has also updated its GPT models, particularly the GPT-3.5 Turbo model. This model, which has gained popularity among developers, will see a price reduction to facilitate increased use. The new GPT-3.5 Turbo model, gpt-3.5-turbo-0125, has improved accuracy in responding to requested formats and also addresses a bug related to non-English language function calls.

Additionally, OpenAI revealed the price per 1,000 tokens has dropped 5x for text-embedding-3-small compared to text-embedding-ada-002, from $0.0001 to $0.00002. According to the company, developers can also shorten embeddings to reduce costs without significantly impacting accuracy.

GPT-3.5 Turbo Evolution: Get ready! Get ready! Get ready! OpenAI has updated its GPT-4 Turbo preview model, GPT-3.5 Turbo model, and text moderation model. Now, the updated GPT-3.5 Turbo model offers higher accuracy in responding in the requested format and is available at a reduced cost, with a 50% price cut for input tokens and a 25% reduction for output. The company has also addressed a bug affecting non-English UTF-8 generations and introduced a new alias for the GPT-4 Turbo preview model. Furthermore, OpenAI plans to launch the GPT-4 Turbo with a vision of general availability shortly

Advanced Content Moderation: OpenAI raises the bar in content moderation with text-moderation-007, its most advanced model to date. It Covers how this model enhances accuracy in identifying potentially harmful text. Which provides a safer AI environment for developers and users alike.

Enhanced Developer Control: Developers, take command! Hence, OpenAI introduces improved control over API keys and enhanced visibility into usage metrics. To enhance developers’ control and visibility over API use, OpenAI has introduced new tools, the post said. The tools allow developers to assign permissions to API keys. Which grants control over access to specific endpoints or read-only access for tracking purposes. Additionally, the usage dashboard and usage export function now provide metrics on an API key level, simplifying usage monitoring on a per-feature, -team, -product, or -project basis.

So, learn how you can assign permissions, gain insights at a per-key level, and track consumption to streamline your projects effectively.

Finally, developers now have more control over API keys and visibility into usage metrics. OpenAI says developers can assign permissions to keys and view consumption on a per-key level to better track individual products or projects.
