Quick answer: To split a PDF online free, add your file below, then either type a page range (like 1-3,7) to extract those pages into a new PDF, or click Split every page to download all pages as separate PDFs in a ZIP. Everything runs on your device.

Whether you need to pull one signed page out of a 40-page contract or break a scanned book into individual chapters, this splitter does it without sending your document anywhere. The file is opened and rebuilt locally by your browser, which is why there are no size caps, queues or privacy worries.

You get two modes: Extract range keeps only the pages you list, in the order you list them (so 5,1-2 puts page 5 first). Split every page turns each page into its own numbered PDF and bundles them into a single ZIP download.

Why use the GadgetsFocus pdf splitter?

  • Extract any combination of pages and ranges, in any order you type them.
  • One-click mode that separates all pages into individual PDFs inside a ZIP.
  • No upload, no watermark, no page limit and no sign-up.
  • Original quality preserved – pages are copied byte-perfect, never re-rendered.

Honest limitations

  • Password-protected PDFs need unlocking first with our Unlock PDF tool.
  • Splitting a 1,000-page PDF into single pages creates 1,000 files – that is memory-heavy on old phones.
  • Bookmarks and the document outline are not carried into the extracted files.

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract just one page from a PDF?

Add your file, type the single page number (for example 7) in the range box and click Extract range. A new PDF containing only page 7 downloads instantly.

Can I reorder pages while extracting?

Yes. The extracted PDF follows the order you type. Entering 3,1,2 produces a PDF whose first page is the original page 3.

Is my document uploaded to your server?

No. The splitting is done by the pdf-lib JavaScript library inside your browser. Your PDF never leaves your device, and the tool even works offline after the page loads.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they exist in the source file, including fonts, vectors and images, so the output is identical in quality to the original.

What does the ZIP contain in split-every-page mode?

One PDF per page, named page-01.pdf, page-02.pdf and so on, so they sort correctly in your file manager.
