Questions and troubleshooting
What settings should I try first?
Start with the default 80% quality and 1,920-pixel maximum side for a large photo. Lower either gradually if the result is still too big; these settings do not guarantee a particular file size.
Why is my PNG not much smaller?
This tool can reduce the PNG color palette as well as dimensions; it does not guarantee lossless results. Inspect colors and transparency. Already optimized images may shrink little; try smaller dimensions or WebP if suitable.
What we checked
A generated PNG produced a downloadable 143-byte PNG. This is a fixture result, not a promised compression ratio for photographs. Checked October 1, 2026 in Chromium.
