Microsoft Introduces AI-Powered Text Editing in Notepad for Windows Insiders

Microsoft has rolled out a new AI-driven Rewrite feature in Notepad, now available in preview for Windows Insiders. This update empowers users to modify their text by rephrasing sentences, adjusting tone, and changing length, making content editing faster and more versatile. To use this feature, simply highlight the desired text, right-click, and choose the ‘Rewrite’ option. The tool provides three rephrased versions, allowing users to select the one that best fits their needs.

Key Features of Microsoft Notepad’s New AI Rewrite Tool

  1. Easy Text Modification: Adjust tone, rephrase sentences, or shorten and lengthen content.
  2. Multiple Rewrite Options: Pick from three AI-generated alternatives to replace the original text.
  3. Efficient Editing: Designed to make content creation and editing smoother for all users.

Currently, the Rewrite feature requires Microsoft account authentication and is accessible in select countries, including the US, UK, and Germany. This enhancement is part of Microsoft’s ongoing update to Notepad, following recent additions like spell check and autocorrect introduced in July.

AI Expansions Beyond Notepad

Microsoft is also testing new AI capabilities in Microsoft Paint. The Generative Fill tool enables users to add content to images based on text prompts, while the Generative Erase tool lets users remove unwanted parts of an image and blend the background seamlessly. These tools, which aim to improve creativity and efficiency, are also in preview for Windows Insiders and are gradually being released on select devices.

Microsoft’s AI-Driven Future for Productivity

The addition of AI to Notepad and Paint demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to integrating intelligent tools across its productivity suite. These updates enhance user capabilities, making it easier to create, edit, and manage content with AI assistance.

With these AI-powered tools, Microsoft is reshaping how users interact with their devices, creating a more adaptive and efficient workspace for all.
