Verdict: Xiaomi’s Android 17 rollout (packaged as HyperOS 2.0) will officially begin in October 2026 for the Xiaomi 16 series in China, with the global rollout hitting the Xiaomi 15 and Redmi Note 15 series in late November and December.
With Google finalizing the Android 17 codebase, Xiaomi has accelerated its beta testing for HyperOS 2.0. Unlike Samsung, which rolls out updates globally almost simultaneously, Xiaomi staggers its updates based on region (China vs. Global ROM) and sub-brand (Xiaomi vs. Redmi vs. POCO).
Here is the official timeline for when your specific Xiaomi device will receive the Android 17 OTA update.
Wave 1: October 2026 (China First, Global to Follow)
As always, the newest ultra-premium flagships get priority. These devices will see the update first in China, followed by a global rollout roughly 3 to 4 weeks later.
– Xiaomi 16
– Xiaomi 16 Pro
– Xiaomi 16 Ultra
– Xiaomi Mix Fold 5
Wave 2: November 2026 (The 2025 Flagships)
If you purchased a flagship device last year, you are in the second wave.
– Xiaomi 15
– Xiaomi 15 Pro
– Xiaomi 15 Ultra
– Redmi K80 Pro (China) / POCO F7 Pro (Global)
Wave 3: December 2026 (The High-Volume Midrangers)
This is the most critical wave, covering the phones that millions of people actually own.
– Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G
– Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G
– Redmi Note 14 Pro+ (2024 model)
– POCO X7 Pro
– Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro
Will My Phone Get It?
Xiaomi’s update policy has improved drastically over the last three years. If you own a premium Xiaomi (number series) phone released in 2023 or later (Xiaomi 13 and up), you are guaranteed Android 17.
If you own a Redmi Note series phone released in 2024 or later (Redmi Note 14 and up), you are also guaranteed the update.
Older budget devices, such as the Redmi Note 12 series, have reached their end-of-life (EOL) status and will remain on Android 15/16 permanently.
