Introduction to TikTok Group Chats
TikTok is stepping up its game against leading messaging platforms like Meta’s WhatsApp and Apple’s Messages by introducing TikTok group chats. Starting Monday, users can create group chats with up to 32 participants, allowing them to communicate and share content directly on TikTok.
How to Create a Group Chat on TikTok
Previously, users would share TikTok videos through external messaging apps, but the new group chat feature allows them to do this seamlessly within the app. This update enhances the social experience, enabling users to watch, comment, and react together in real-time on TikTok.
Safety Features for Teens
To ensure safety, especially for younger users aged 16 and 17, group chats are subject to specific controls. Users, including teens, can only be added to a group chat by a mutual follower. Teens cannot join a group unless there is at least one mutual friend already in it. Additionally, if a teen creates a group chat, TikTok requires them to review and approve new members before they can join.
Additional Features: Custom Stickers for DMs
In addition to group chats, TikTok is also rolling out custom stickers for direct messages. This new feature allows users to create and upload their own stickers, adding a fun and personalized touch to their conversations. For more details on this update, visit TikTok’s official blog.
