Selling or Trading In a OnePlus Phone: Act Before Resale Values Drop

If you own a OnePlus phone in the US or Europe and plan to upgrade soon, you need to sell or trade it in immediately. Following the company’s exit from Western markets, the secondary market value of OnePlus devices is plummeting, and major carriers are preparing to drop trade-in support entirely.

Why Are Resale Values Dropping?

Unlike Apple or Samsung devices which hold steady residual value, orphaned tech brands suffer massive depreciation. Because OnePlus is no longer selling new hardware or supporting localized warranty centers in these regions, demand for used OnePlus phones has cratered. Refurbishers and second-hand retailers (like Swappa and BackMarket) are already slashing their buyback offers to clear out inventory they believe will become unsellable by the end of 2026.

Current Trade-in Values (July 2026)

We checked the current cash offer values across the most popular buyback services for a device in “Good” condition. Notice how aggressively the prices have dropped compared to historical averages.

Device ModelSwappa (Avg. Sold)Gazelle OfferCarrier Trade-in (AT&T/T-Mobile)
OnePlus 12 (256GB)$310$240$300 (Promo only)
OnePlus 11 (256GB)$195$130$150
OnePlus Open$650$500Not Accepted

Note: These prices are actively dropping week by week. By September 2026, we expect these figures to fall by another 20%.

Carrier Trade-In Deadlines

Perhaps the most alarming trend is carrier support. T-Mobile, historically one of OnePlus’s strongest US retail partners, has begun quietly removing older OnePlus models from its “Any Condition” trade-in promotions. If you are holding out for the iPhone 18 launch in September, your OnePlus phone may no longer qualify for the standard $800 to $1,000 promotional trade-in tiers.

Final Verdict: What Should You Do?

If you are perfectly happy with your phone and plan to drive it into the ground over the next three years, do nothing. You will still receive basic security patches. But if you are someone who upgrades every 1–2 years, sell it now on Swappa or eBay while consumer awareness of the brand’s exit is still relatively low. Delaying will only cost you money.
