When Will Your Motorola Phone Get Android 17? (2026 Tracker)

Verdict: Motorola will begin rolling out Android 17 to the Moto Edge 70 Ultra and Razr 2025 series in late December 2026. However, budget Moto G owners will likely be waiting until Q3 2027 to see the update.

Motorola makes some of the best smartphone hardware on the market, but their software update department is notoriously slow. While Samsung and Google push major OS updates to their entire fleets within weeks, Motorola often takes six to nine months to update its mid-range devices.

If you own a Motorola smartphone, here is the realistic, historically-based timeline for when you can expect the Android 17 (MyUX) update.

Wave 1: December 2026 (The Premium Flagships)

Motorola prioritizes its most expensive phones. If you purchased a flagship device in the last 12 months, you will see the update before the end of the year.
– Motorola Razr+ 2025 (Razr 60 Ultra)
– Motorola Razr 2025 (Razr 60)
– Motorola Edge 70 Ultra
– Motorola Edge 70 Pro

Wave 2: March – May 2027 (Older Flagships)

If you own a flagship device from 2024 or early 2025, prepare to wait until spring.
– Motorola Edge 50 Ultra
– Motorola Edge 50 Pro
– Motorola Razr+ 2024 (Razr 50 Ultra)
– ThinkPhone by Motorola (2025 Edition)

Wave 3: July – September 2027 (The Moto G Series)

This is the unfortunate reality of buying a budget Motorola device. Despite the Moto G series being the company’s best-selling line, they are placed at the very back of the update queue.
– Moto G Power 5G (2026)
– Moto G Stylus 5G (2026)
– Moto G Play (2026)

Will My Phone Get It?

Motorola’s update policies are highly fragmented.
Edge and Razr series: Generally guaranteed 3 major OS updates.
Moto G series (Stylus/Power): Generally guaranteed 1 major OS update.
Moto G Play series: Generally receive 0 major OS updates (security patches only).

If you are currently using a Moto G Power from 2024, your device has already reached its end-of-life status and will remain on its current version of Android permanently.
