This year, I had the opportunity to experience TCL’s innovative Nxtpaper display technology for the first time. The Nxtpaper 3.0 technology combines vibrant, high-refresh-rate visuals with the comfort of an e-reader-like display. The result is something truly unique.
TCL 50 XL Nxtpaper 5G: A Standout Device
At the top of TCL’s lineup is the TCL 50 XL Nxtpaper 5G, a device that impresses on many fronts. The most striking difference between its Nxtpaper display and a standard LCD screen is the absence of reflection. The Nxtpaper display features a matte finish, unlike the glossy surface of traditional LCDs. During my tests, even under bright outdoor conditions and harsh indoor lighting, the screen remained glare-free, offering crystal-clear visibility no matter the environment. This 6.8-inch display boasts a full HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, making it a pleasure to use.
Impressive Specs Under the Hood
The TCL 50 XL Nxtpaper 5G doesn’t just excel in display technology. For those looking for a more compact option, the TCL 50 XE Nxtpaper 5G offers the same Nxtpaper display technology with a slightly smaller and less powerful configuration. This model features a 90Hz display refresh rate and is powered by a MediaTek 6835 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It also includes a 5,010mAh battery with 33W fast charging support and a 32MP front-facing camera for sharp selfies.
Pricing and Availability
TCL has priced the 50 XL Nxtpaper 5G at $229, while the 50 XE Nxtpaper 5G will retail for $199. Both models are expected to be available at select retailers during the third quarter of the year.
